APRS Digipeater DB0HDF
An APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) digipeater and I-Gate are operated at DB0HDF. Multiple iterations of APRS digipeaters have been in operation from DB0HDF since 2005, previously using the callsign DB0SHK.
The currently deployed system relies on a TNC-2S modem together with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running aprx. A customized aprx software version is used, which enables collection of real-time telemetry. This data is delivered into an internal monitoring system. A Yaesu FT-2980E transceiver operated at minimum power level provides the RF interface. Using a diplexer, its Diamond X-300 antenna is shared with the 70cm D-Star repeater located within the same 19" equipment rack.
The APRS digipeater offers an estimated range of about 90 km and favorably covers the motorways A4 (east-west) and A9 (north-south).
